“Putting Desire on the Table‘”
2023, rice paper, ink.
Composition of 35 sheets.
"I believe that from birth, we all have a whole self. Since I was a child, I was influenced by Chinese philosophical thinking. We spend our entire lives searching for our true selves - a process of return to ourselves. A single circle represents the original self; multiple circles represent the part superfluous to the self: Desire.
We display the things we desire, and at the same time, we like things full of desire. I put my desire on the table: to eat, view, and offer. I examine my desire and express it, and after I finish the painting, I put it on the wall, and it begins to examine me in return."
